Ainsley Harriott’s 10-second stale chip hack will change your life

Ainsley Harriott’s 10-second stale chip hack will change your life
We all know him from his days on Ready, Steady, Cook. But now the celebrity chef is sharing everything he learnt from his days testing the winning recipes in his new cooking show.

He has a long list of great tips. But his favourite and most memorable, is heating up stale chips in the microwave. Now we don’t mean hot chips, but crisps, as the English call them.

“One of my absolute faves is when your crisps get a little bit stale, put them in the microwave for ten seconds and they crispen up!” said the former cooking judge.

“You know when you bite into them and think ‘Ohh I opened them last week’, you know what I’m talking about!” he said.

Harriott recommends putting the chips in a bowl and in the microwave for 10 seconds and viola! Crisp chips again.

BUT REMEMBER!!! Since most chips come in foil packaging, it’s important to remember to decant them into a bowl first to prevent a mini fireworks display in your microwave!

 After some more cooking hacks?

  •  Keep your cutting board from sliding all over the counter by using a wet paper towel or damp hand towel under your board to keep it in its place.
  • Partially freeze meat before cutting: Slicing meat to grind or cook in a stir-fry can be tricky even with a sharp knife. To make it easier, place the meat in the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes to stiffen it up.
  • Eggs peel easiest if you add some bicarb to the water and then pop it in cold water afterward.
