Advantage Middleton – Game, Set & Match
The Duchess of Cambridge took to the courts for a Tennis for Kids session.

Yesterday Kate Middleton showed off her tennis skills at the National Tennis Centre in London. Sporting casual athletic wear, the 35-year-old Duchess of Cambridge joined children on the courts as part of a Tennis for Kids session, which encourages youth to get involved in the sport by offering free coaching.

The Duchess is a keen tennis player and the current patron of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), a position formerly held by Queen Elizabeth II for 64 years.

In between perfecting her swing and running coaching drills, Kate chatted with professional tennis player Johanna Konta. “She’s lovely,” Konta told E News. “It was great to see her passion for tennis and that she was here to learn about these great programs being run by the LTA. Every little girl and almost every boy wants to meet a princess, and it got them very excited.”

Kate also talked about her son, Prince George’s interest in tennis. “”She asked what kind of stuff [he] should be doing,” says LTA coach Sam Richardson. “He is interested in tennis, but being 4, he just wants to whack the ball. You have to wait for them to show interest,” he explains.

The Duchess’s appearance was her first solitary engagement since she announced her third pregnancy in September. She will also meet youth taking part in the Coach Core apprenticeship scheme, which aims to train 16-24 year olds with limited opportunities how to be sports coaches and mentors, reports The Daily Mail.
