Adopting a homeless pet is the ultimate Christmas gift
Christmas - it’s the most wonderful time of the year for so many reasons. It’s also the most wonderful time of the year to adopt a homeless pet.

That extra bit of time off work, and the kids on school holidays make it a fabulous time to settle in a new furry family member and give yourself a cuddly staycation this summer.

There are thousands of rescue pets looking for loving homes this Christmas – all crossing their paws and wishing for a family to call their very own by Christmas night.

And pet adoption is the best option for so many reasons. It’s the most ethical choice, it allows you to find the right ‘fit’ for your lifestyle, and rescue pets are great value, given that expenses such as desexing and vaccination are all taken care of as part of your adoption fee.

Support rescue organisations this Christmas – adopt, don’t shop. Rescue groups are flooded at this time of year, thanks to seasonal breeding cycles. This means puppies and kittens are plentiful, giving you even more choice (though there’s so many great reasons to choose an adult pet too).

It’s one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever do. There’s nothing quite as sweet as knowing you’ve helped save the life of a homeless pet. And the unconditional love you’ll receive in return is the icing on the (Christmas) cake.

So whether you’re looking for a jogging partner to kick off your 2017 health goals, a couch potato to snuggle up with, or reason to get the kids off their smartphones, now really is a wonderful time to welcome a new furry family member into your home.

If you can’t find ‘the one’ in time for Christmas, or you’re away for the holidays, the upcoming National Pet Adoption Day is a great way to find out more about adoption, and to meet adoptable pets face-to-furry face.

The joint venture between PetRescue and PETstock is hosted at over 100 PETstock stores every year, and gives more than 1,000 adoptable pets the chance to find their new family. National Pet Adoption Day takes place on Sunday 5th February 2017.

Make 2017 the year you add some love and happy into your life.

Right now, there are more than 8,500 adoptable puppies, kittens, cats, dogs and other pets listed on PetRescue.com.au. Start your search today!
