Adelaide Festival 2018
Adelaide Festival welcomes the return of its glorious Palais in 2018.

2018’s Adelaide Festival returns to the Palais with an outstanding line up of  live music, lunchtime forums and special events set to draw crowds to the beautiful Adelaide Riverbank from sunrise ‘til sunset and beyond. The Palais program features 47 free and ticketed acts involving more than 130 artists and special guests across 17 days and nights. Transforming its look and feel from early in the morning until late at night, in one 24 hour cycle the Palais becomes a funky floating nightclub, long lunch haven, live music and dance hotspot, breakfast sanctuary, lively centre for debate, and go-to meeting place; once again set to become the beating heart of the Adelaide Festival.

Featured is Brooklyn art-rock indie innovators Grizzly Bear, the soulful indie-pop sensation Lauv and UK electro-pioneers Mount Kimbie. The soul and funk of legend Lee Fields and The Expressions will have festivalgoers grooving on The Palais dance floor well into the night with their catalogue of hits. In addition to the great line up of international artists is an outstanding cohort of Australian acts including rock legends Regurgitator, firebrand trumpet-playing vocalist from The Cat Empire Harry James Angus and dance veterans Art vs Science, who will have The Palais swinging into the wee hours. For those who prefer something more laid back, The Palais is also home to a string of spellbinding Australian songwriters including Vikki Thorn (of The Waifs), dreamy folk star Julia Jacklin and the angelic Lior.

The Palais Long Lunches will be returning in 2018 set to the theme Under the Influence of Adelaide. Featuring a unique food and wine program curated by Gill Minervini (Dark MOFO Winter Feast, City of Sydney Events), The Palais’ Long Lunches invite diners to enjoy the art of hospitality as leading guest chefs thrill with their latest culinary creations and stories, in the ultimate Adelaide setting. The 2018 program explores South Australia’s place as an industry leader and contemporary breeding ground for creators of progressive, seasonal, delicious food.

The Palais will be open for breakfast from 7am daily with the return of Breakfast with Papers. Guests can enjoy coffee and light breakfast by CIBO Espresso and newspapers provided by The Advertiser as Tom Wright and his panel of local and visiting journalists, writers, academics, thought leaders and artists dive into an intimate daily discussion of news and current affairs. Each morning event will feature a curated discussion of the news of the day and the issues that matter. As 2017 audiences will attest, it’s an invigorating and rewarding start to every day of the Festival.
