A Simple Act – Poem

A Simple Act – Poem
A poem by one of our readers, Carole Thornton. Are you a Budding Poet? Have your poem published in MiNDFOOD magazine too.

A simple act
one foot in front of the other.
A guilty, joyous pleasure
strolling through the neighbourhood.
A glimpse into gardens
blooming with gardenias and geraniums.
A blue jacaranda speaking of season
with its layer upon layer of delicate, swirling petals.
A shock of pink sweet pea
peeking over a fence.
A welcoming front door
patterned with stained glass and timber panels.
A fractured view to secret shadows
of love and laughter and longing.
A cacophonous squeal from white cockatoos
flying towards the sunset.
A family of magpies squabbling, warbling
digging for grubs under a sprinkler.
A puppy chasing a low flying butterfly
children watching, giggling at its playful attack.
A warm smile from an elegant
elderly lady collecting her mail.
A simple act
one foot in front of the other.
A quiet beauty,
to end the day.
