9 TV shows and films streaming in May
We've rounded up the best new releases hitting streaming service this May.

 

Made for Love (TV)

HBO/Neon/Stan, 1 May

This HBO black comedy starring Cristin Milioti (Palm Springs, How I Met Your Mother) is already getting critic buzz and looks like the perfect series for Black Mirror fans.

The show follow’s Milioti’s Hazel, who discovers her tech entrepreneur husband has implanted a monitoring device in her brain, which allows him to not only track and watch her, but percieve her ’emotional data’.

Love on the Spectrum season two (TV)

ABC TV, 18 May

Australia’s hit dating show, Love on the Spectrum returns for a second season, documenting the ups and downs of romance in the autism community.

The 5-part series features a diverse cast of fan-favourites and new faces, with relationship expert Jodi Rogers helping them navigate the world of dating.

The Woman in the Window (movie)

Netflix, 14 May

Amy Adams stars in this Netflix thriller adapted from the A. J. Finn novel. The film follows Dr Anna Fox, a woman suffering from agoraphobia as she witnesses a troubling incident in the home of the family across the street.

Halston (TV)

Netflix, 14 May

Ryan Murphy is back with another glossy biopic, this time retelling the story of famed fashion designer, Halston.

Ewan McGregor leads the series in the titular role, recounting the designer’s meteoric rise to fame and turbulent personal life.

Master of None (TV)

Netflix, 23 May

 

Aziz Ansari’s award-winning show returns for a third season after a four-year break. This time the series will focus on Dev’s friend Denise, played by Lena Waithe, and her wife Alicia, played by Naomi Ackie.

Titled ‘Moments in Love’, the five-episode season will focus on Denise and Alicia’s relationship, with a small appearance by Ansari.

Cruella (movie)

Disney+/cinemas, 28 May

Emma Stone’s modern reimagining of the Disney classic arrives online and in cinemas this May. Set in 1970s London, the live-action prequal recounts the early days of Stone’s Cruella de Vil as she goes head to head with Emma Thompson’s Baroness.

Those Who Wish Me Dead (movie)

HBO/cinemas, 14 May

Angelina Jolie returns the action genre in Those Who Wish Me Dead, a new film by Sicario‘s Taylor Sheridan. The thrilling film follows a survival expert and young murder witness as they are hunted by assassins in the Montana wilderness.

The Underground Railroad (TV)

Amazon Prime, 14 May

Barry Jenkins, creator of Moonlight and If Beale Street Could Talk, tells the incredible story of the people who escaped from slavery in the American south.

Solos (TV)

Amazon Prime, 21 May

The creators of this Amazon series haven’t revealed too much about the plot, but we do know Solos has a star-studded cast. Morgan Freeman, Anne Hathaway, Helen Mirren, Constance Wu and Dan Stevens are some of name’s attached to the series, centred on seven character-driven tales about the human experience.
