7 events to enjoy in Auckland this August
Planning a trip to Auckland in August? Or perhaps you’re a local who is stuck for activity ideas? We’ve got you covered with these seven events that are not to be missed.

Restaurant Month 2020

Take a break from cooking and get out and about in Auckland – the city is celebrating 10 years of Restaurant Month, and there are some amazing deals to discover.

This year Restaurant Month will be introducing a new ‘$15 or less’ menu, meaning anyone can enjoy what the month has to offer regardless of budget. That’s in addition to offers at $24, $40 and $55+ price points.

Also new to Restaurant Month is the Chef’s Table series. Hosted by some of the city centre’s best-known chefs, the series aims to take diners on a culinary journey exploring the dishes that have inspired and influenced the careers of these local food heroes.

The Master Builder screening
28 August
ASB Waterfront Theatre

With the ASB Waterfront Theatre closed during lockdown, the Auckland Theatre Company was forced to consider creative new ways to bring its shows to audiences.

The latest innovation from the company comes with the MiNDFOOD season of The Master Builder, with director Colin McColl adapting Henrik Ibsen’s classic play into a filmed studio presentation that is a hybrid of stage and screen.

This inventive adaptation of a magnificent work from a master playwright will premiere on YouTube on Saturday 8 August, 7.30pm, available for free viewing online until 30 August 2020.

There will also be a ticketed showing on the big screen at ASB Waterfront Theatre on Friday 28 August, 7pm, with a live Q&A with Colin McColl and the cast following the screening.
