5 things you may not know about Sam Heughan
You may know him as Jamie from the hit series Outlander, but there is more to the Scottish actor than meets the eye.

1 He founded a global movement
In 2015 Heughan challenged his fans to challenge themselves while raising funds for charity. From climbing a mountain to learning how to sew, Heughan’s vision was to help yourself while helping others. My Peak Challenge was officially launched in 2016 and now has over 12,000 members in 83 countries supporting a range of charity partners.

2 He has had enough of bullies
Since landing the role on Outlander, Heughan has dealt with constant bullying. In a four-part note posted to Twitter on April 17, Heughan revealed the “personal slurs, shaming, abuse, death threats, stalking, sharing of private information, and vile, false narrative” he has had to endure. The actor also stated that he “will not entertain it anymore and am blocking anyone that writes anything defamatory or abusive”.

3 He launched his own whisky
Heughan launched The Sassenach scotch whisky earlier this year as part of a new business, Great Glen Company. Currently only available to order in the US, the whisky fulfils one of his lifelong dreams of having his own dram.

4 He is working on a new project with Graham McTavish
Heughan is working on a new project with Graham McTavish, the actor who played his uncle Dougal MacKenzie on Outlander. Heughan announced the project called Clan Lands on Instagram saying the series explores Scottish culture and history.

5 He auditioned for the role of James Bond
He auditioned for the role of James prior to the 2006 Casino Royale reboot, with the role instead going to Daniel Craig. At the time, there were talks of portraying Bond at a younger age.
