Multi award-winning actress Sarah Paulson joins the gang of glamorous thieves in Oceans 8. Known for American Horror Story and American Crime Story: The People vs O.J. Simpson, Paulson is one of Hollywood’s most versatile actresses.

In her personal life, Paulson was in a relationship with actress Cherry Jones from 2004 to 2009. Before her relationship with Jones, she only dated men, including then-fiancé playwright Tracy Letts. Since 2015 she’s been in a relationship with Holland Taylor.

MiNDFOOD sat down with Sarah Paulson ahead of the global release of Ocean’s 8 to chat about the girl-power movie and what it was like to work with Sandra Bullock.

What was it like working with Sandra Bullock?

I’ve done another movie with Sandy since this movie finished. We had such a wonderful experience working together that I end up playing her sister in this movie called Bird Box, that we’ve just finished. I’ve never worked with an actress who is so generous, and I’ve worked with a lot of very generous actresses but she is… if you’re going to have a #1 on the call sheet that’s going to set the tone for everybody on that set, you want it to be Sandra Bullock. Everything you read about her is true. She’s the nicest and most genuine person. I aspire to be like her in all ways really.

Do women make better thieves?

If you notice, there are fewer of us needed to heist than in Ocean’s 11. We only need eight to get this $150 million necklace. I don’t know what that says, but maybe something.

Have you ever stolen anything?

As a child, I remember I did steal this little elephant magnifying glass from a bodega/toy store in New York City. My mother noticed that I had done it, and had me walk back in and show them that I had taken it, and then, of course, I never stole anything again.

What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear ‘Cartier’?

Sparkle, diamonds, give it to me. I’d like to have it.

Do you remember your first piece of jewellery?

Yes, and what’s tragic about it is that my mother gave it to me, and it was very beautiful and unique, but I was too young. She has a ring now that she wears, and told me she would give it to me when I was 30. And when I turned 30, she said when you’re 40 and when I turned 40 she said when you’re 50. I was like okay, I get the feeling I’m never getting this ring. It’s probably because I lost the one she gave me when I was a kid.
