3 DIY Face Masks For A Skin Pick-Me-Up

From acne-fighting to exfoliating – we round up our favourite DIY face masks you can make from your kitchen cupboard.

Acne-fighting Tumeric & Lemon

Tumeric is known for its wonderful health benefits. As it turns out, it’s also a great ingredient for the skin. “Tumeric decreases microbial growth, sebum production and inflammation all which can cause acne,” dermatologist Purvisha Patel told Marie Claire.

Ingredients

3 tablespoons ground tumeric

2 tablespoons lemon juice

Water as needed

Directions

Mix tumeric powder with lemon juice, adding water until it creates a thick paste. Apply to face and leave on for 5-10 minutes. Rinse off.

Exfoliating Coffee & Coconut

Coffee makes a great exfoliating scrub to remove dead skin and improve circulation.

Ingredients

1/2 ground coffee (the finer the better)

1/2 cup coconut oil

1/4 cup brown sugar

Directions

Mix all the ingredients together until it forms a paste. Rub onto face body to gently exfoliate. Wash off.

Soothing Honey & Oat

Did you know your regular storebought oats contain loads of skin-rejuvenating benefits? It contains avenanthraimides, antioxidants and anti-inflammatories – all which are great for soothing dry, irritated skin.

Ingredients

1 cup of oatmeal

2-3 tablespoons of honey

Directions

Cook the oats. Mix the cooked oats with the honey and let it cool. Once cool, apply to the face for 10-15 minutes then rinse off.
