Woman adopts dying dog and takes him on a trip of a lifetime

It is hard enough to get healthy dogs adopted, but when a rescue dog requires “hospice care” its adoption is made even less likely. As such, it takes a particular kind of person to take on the responsibility of caring for any kind of dog, let alone one riddled with cancer who has a very limited time left on this earth.

Nicole Elliot, a Columbus, Georgia resident found Chester on a rescue website called Animal Ark Rescue,  where she saw the “hospice needed” clause and decided to take Chester home and let him live out his days in comfort, surrounded by love and happiness. She made it her goal to help Chester live again, even if he only had a short time left.

“I am trying to give him normal doggy experiences that he may have never had the chance to do before, and a ton of spoiling,” she told WTVM.

“So far he took a ride with the windows down, he had a famous Nathans hot dog, he had a doggie sundae, he had a milk and oatmeal bath (spa day), he went on a shopping spree where he got a cozy bed, bandannas, lots of treats, and toys”

“It will be so tough to lose him shortly, so I decided to take the time he has left (which is undetermined, but not guessed to be very long,) and make it as happy as I can.”
