Thirst Quenchers: The Best Hydrating Skincare

We’re currently blaming the unpredictable weather for our dehydrated skin but a plethora of extrinsic and intrinsic factors play a role in skin hydration. Everything from low humidity levels to hormones and diet can have an impact on well hydrated our skin is, and as a result, how plump, soft and smooth it looks and feels. To combat the signs of dehydration we’ve rounded up skincare’s hydrating superstars.

Clockwise from top left: Dior’s recently launched additions to the much-loved Hydra Life range have been formulated with serious skin hydration in mind. Our pick of the bunch is the ultra-lightweight, quickly absorbed Deep Hydration Sorbet Water Essence. The essence-like formula glides onto skin to hydrate, tone and boost skin radiance with natural fruit acids.

Well-hydrated skin is healthy skin, and Clinique‘s new Turnaround Accelerated Renewal Serum works to enhance skin health by speeding up the skin cell renewal process. Cutting-edge skincare ingredients including a potent antioxidant blend, rice ferment and chestnut seed extract fend off free radicals, refine skin and gently exfoliate skin. As a result, complexions are softer and more luminous.

Sometimes your go-to skincare regimen needs a little boost when it comes to hydration, and sulphate and paraben-free Sukin Hydrating Facial Masque is the perfect skin pick-me-up. Formulated with a bunch of skin-softening botanical ingredients including mango butter, olive oil and avocado oil, this pampering face provides skin with fatty acids and soothing hydration.

Moisturising skincare doesn’t have to weigh skin down to be effective as Estée Lauder Nutritious Pore Minimizing Hydra Lotion proves.  A supercharged blend of algae in the sheer formula boosts hydration and protects skin from environmental damage without leaving skin with an unwanted shiny look and feel. It’s the ideal skin fix for complexions that need a lighter touch when it comes to hydration.

Plummeting temperatures, air-conditioning, extreme climates and even pollution can leave skin feeling dry and unhappy which is why Clarins harnessed the power of Organic Leaf of Life in new Hydra-Essential Cooling Gel. The remarkable resilient plant extract helps skin retain moisture no matter what it is exposed to while the cooling-effect formula soothes skin, leaving it shine-free and comfortable.

Our favourite botanical superstars – avocado oil, manuka flower oil and macadamia nut oil – combine in to fight dehydration and the appearance of fine lines in Antipodes Rejoice Light Facial Day Cream. Not only does the divine formulation keep skin optimally hydrated, Rejoice has been created with 100 per cent natural ingredients and is vegetarian-friendly.

Want super hydrated skin? Waso Fresh Jelly Lotion, a unique gel-to-liquid formula created by Shiseido, provides skin with a hit of moisturise when used immediately after cleansing and before your usual moisturiser. A botanical extract of white jelly mushroom locks in moisture to keep skin radiant and plump while reducing the signs of pores.

Gucci’s new campaign travels to a galaxy far, far away

Gucci’s pre-fall campaign is nothing if not unique. Shot by Glen Luchford, the campaign transports viewers to the outskirts of our solar system, depicting a shiny, futuristic outer space complete with spaceships, aliens and humanoids.

Psychedelia abounds in this sci-fi inspired world, where the fashion matches the outlandish landscape. Metallics, florals and retro knits merge with sequins and extravagant embellishments to create an endearingly discordant aesthetic.

The photographs are complemented by the director’s cut video below – check it out for more bizarre galactic inspiration.
