Karl Lagerfeld, who we know by now is never one to do things in halves, has taken our breath away yet again with his latest haute couture collection for Chanel. While the enchanting collection speaks for itself – you can check out our favourite pieces below – the set, although awe-inspiring, was a dramatic departure from the extravagant backdrops Lagerfeld has become known for. A life-size dollhouse created from eco-friendly plywood, that Lagerfeld said would be recycled after the show, and the presence of ethical fashion campaigner, Livia Firth, in the front row, signals high fashion’s growing concern for the environment and a sustainable future.

Elaborate details and uber-feminine silhouettes often rule the runway at the haute couture shows – Giambattista Valli’s spring collection was no exception. Valli, an Italian native who has called Paris home for 18 years, paid homage to The City of Lights with delicate floral embellishments – a nod to the city ‘s numerous luxuriant gardens.
