Gala Darling delights in seeing the small and extraordinary things that surround her, and she’s taken this concept, as well as that of “radical self love” into the designs of her debut range of edgy accessories, Moxie for NZ Mint Jewellery.
The author of Love and Sequins (a handbook about living magically and celebrating ourselves) of which she has sold 25,000 copies, said it was natural to use words in her collection.
Words that feature on the pieces include babe, darling, imagine, dreamer and lover. Styles include a Heartbump pendant, Sweet Nothing Studs, Whisper Earrings, Sassy Stacker Rings, and Spirit and Courage Cuff.
“As a writer, I’m acutely aware of the transformative power of words,” Darling says. “The words we say about ourselves and about our life have a direct impact on the quality of life we live. We create our world with our words.”
Darling has practised “radical self love” since 2006 and says it has helped her transform her life from “a miserable girl who didn’t eat” to being “delighted with my life”.
