Karen Walker boldly goes where the designer has never been before: in front of the camera as the face of her latest eyewear collection, Transformers. “In an average day I need to take on so many different personas. That’s modern life for all women. The images for this campaign sprang out of wanting to reflect that multiplicity,” Walker says.

Influenced by the collections exaggerated shapes and proportions, Walker decided to take her own transformations to extremes. Turning to artists Cindy Sherman, Robert Mapplethorpe and Andy Warhol as inspiration, Walker is transformed into a haughty Princess, a platinum-stacked country and western star, a sleek Sassoon-bobbed eighties disco diva and a flaming red Thierry Mugler android.

The Transformers collection features nine bold frames – think oversized squares and 50s-inspired cat eyes – in an eclectic colour palette of tortoiseshell, dusky pink, khaki and a burst of sunshine yellow.
