In bloom: Chelsea Flower Show 2015

Horticulturalists from around the world are displaying their floral designs and know-how at the Royal Hospital in Chelsea, south-west London, this week.

The world-renowned Chelsea Flower Show exhibition pits homegrown talent against designers from as far afield as Australia and Dubai.

This year’s event opened with a splash, as a group of synchronised swimmer – including a British Olympian – braved the rain to take a dip in a show-garden pond complete with hand made diving caps crafted from purple-hued chrysanthemums.

Earlier that day the royal family were among the first visitors to the gardens. Prince Harry, back from his trip down under, met with the horticulturists and members of the Besutho Choir as he visited his Sentembale charity’s African-themed garden.

He also spent time talking with his father Prince Charles and even shared a rare affection moment with his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, greeting her with a kiss on the cheek.

Harry’s cousin Zara Phillips also made an appearance at the event, posing for pictures with ride-on lawn mowers.

Models dressed head to toe in floral creations paraded the gardens and visitors to the gardens admired the beautiful blooms from the shelter of some amazing flora-inspired umbrellas.

Take a look at some of the incredible images from the day:
