On our recent trip to Stockholm, Sweden, STYLE roamed the fashion precincts of the capital to find some of our favourite fashion boutiques that you should know about. Here are our top five picks below.

1: ACNE ARCHIVE

Torsgatan 53, 113 37 Stockholm, Sweden

+46 8 30 27 23

From its famous chain of “Acne Studios” stores comes its less expensive cousin, Acne “Archive” –which is just a fancy way of saying “outlet”. And who doesn’t love a good pair of Acne boots at half the original price? The store stocks some of its run-of-the-mill items as well as one-off masterpieces that didn’t make the main retail racks, recycled and revamped by Acne Studios creative director Johnny Johansson.

2: GRANDPA

Södermannagatan 21, 116 40 Stockholm, Sweden

+46 8 643 60 80

Founded in 2003, and with three stores in Sweden, this department style boutique is big on ecological production and sustainability making it very conscious on which local and international brands it houses. You will also find everything from vintage clothing to vintage furniture here, but it’s the charming random knick knacks and home-style layout that makes the store’s name ring true.

3: NITTY GRITTY

nittygrittystore.com

Krukmakargatan 26, 118 51 Stockholm, Sweden

+46 8 658 24 40

Located outside of the trendy area of SOFO is the island of Södermalm, where you will find the minimalist, beautifully decked out Nitty Gritty. The store stocks Scandinavian designers along with international brands we know and love such as Isabel Marant, Gitman Vintage and Adidas. Nitty Gritty is also well known for housing up and coming designers – the latest being Sara Lanz. If you are a conscientious fashionista, this is the store for you.

4: UNIFORMS FOR THE DEDICATED

This outdoor and lifestyle brand is for the fashion-conscious man, with a menswear line that relates to the environment and nature’s scarce resources. The brand is just as big on sustainability as it is on style – its innovative designs have been recognised with several Swedish fashion awards since it launched in 2007.
