Backstage Beauty: Dior Spring/Summer 2016

Luminous, flawless skin dominated the runway at the Spring/Summer 2016 fashion weeks in Paris, New York, Milan and London. Dior’s recent show was no exception, with Creative and Image Director, Peter Philips, using Diorskin Star fluid foundation to perfect his canvas before bring lids and lips to life with pastel shades of pink.  “I wanted to create a very “glowy” makeup look, based on an idea of transparency and softness, in harmony with the pastel tones in Raf Simons’ collection. It’s diaphanous beauty with a hint of hidden eroticism,” emphasises Peter Philips.

It’s fair to say that Karl Lagerfeld’s no neophyte when it comes to staging ornate fashion shows of the whimsical variety. Over the years he’s hauled in tonnes of ice to adorn runways, transformed the catwalk into a casino and erected an entire Chanel market stocked with over 100,000 faux products. Yesterday’s Chanel  Spring/Summer 2016 show was no exception as Lagerfeld turned Paris’ Grand Palais into a Chanel-themed airport complete with baggage check, arrival and departure gates, and of course, Chanel luggage.  Take a look at the show and some of our favourite pieces from the collection in the gallery below.
