The Time Traveller’s Guide to Hamilton Gardens — a documentary uncovering the remarkable story behind Hamilton Gardens.
Once a city rubbish dump, the Gardens have transformed into a globally recognised “museum of humanity,” showcasing garden design from ancient Egypt and Song Dynasty China to the Italian Renaissance and imagined sustainable futures.
Masterminded by visionary designer Peter Sergel, this is a uniquely New Zealand story of ambition, creativity and community support. The film releases nationwide on April 30.

- Competition commences on 10/04/2026 AEST. Entries close 10pm on 17/05/2026 AEST. The judging will take place at McHugh Media Australia Pty Ltd, PO Box 588, Waverley NSW 2024 by 31/05/2026 by 12pm AEST. Winners will be notified by email. The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
