Book reviews

By Donna Duggan

On average I would receive approximately 10 books a day to review. While books are my passion, it is near impossible to make even a dent on what comes in...

My bedside is home to a towering pile of ‘must reads’, and I usually have one or two books with me at all times.

The MiNDFOOD book club is proving to be popular with our readers, and it is great to be able to share the reviewing with other book lovers. If you are keen to review a book, or provide a book review of your own, please let us know here.

And if you are looking for a good read, books I’m enjoying at the moment include:

Hide & Seek Sydney: Feeling Peckish?

By Explore Australia

A funky guide to 30 of the city’s hidden foodie treasures.

My favourite finds from the book: Big Stone Modern Japanese Tapas in North Sydney, Greek Cakes by Eleni in Maroubra and Formaggi Ocello in Surry Hills.

Bossypants

By Tina Fey

In Bossypants, Tina Fey reveals all: from her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon.

Why I loved it: smart, funny and spiky.

The Promise

By Lesley Pearce

An epic tale set in London in the outbreak of World War One.

Why I enjoyed it: While it moves into romance territory, which isn’t my favourite genre, it’s a captivating story that had me entertained until the end.
