MiNDFOOD associate editor Carolyn Enting rounds up the top fashion events in Australasia for the month of March.

HIGH FASHION
The term high fashion will take on a whole new meaning at the J Spring Fashion Show to be held at Gardens by the Bay, Singapore on March 5. The catwalk will run the length of the 128metre long OCBC Skyway. Guests will be seated at the Supertree Grove to enjoy a panoramic view of the Skyway. The show will also be filmed from five different angles to capture the haute couture and prêt-a-porter collections from Europe, Asia, America and Africa as well as the aerial walkway and city skyline.

BRITOMART FASHION SESSIONS
The popular Britomart Fashion Sessions are back with six runway shows featuring New Zealand and international designer labels in Auckland on February 28 and March 1. Designer labels presenting their autumn/winter 2014 include Trelise Cooper, Kathryn Wilson, Juliette Hogan, Ted Baker and WORLD. Tickets available from www.iTicket.co.nz

FASHION IN THE CITY
The New Zealand Fashion Museum is part of Auckland’s Heart of the City ‘10 Days of Fashion in the City’ programme. The free exhibition held inside the six silos at Silo Park in the Wynyard Quarter is open daily from noon to 6pm until March 9. The pop-up exhibition, HELLO, We are the New Zealand Fashion Museum includes a mini retrospective of previous exhibitions. Garments on show include this Christian Dior ensemble made by El Jay (1969). In 1953 Gus Fisher of Al Jay gained the exclusive rights to manufacture and sell Christian Dior originals and prêt a porter in the New Zealand market.

MEET THE DESIGNERS
Chef Peter Gordon’s SkyCity restaurant The Sugar Club plays host to a bespoke luncheon, The Height of Fashion, in Auckland on March 7. Guests will have the opportunity to be seated at a table with a designer during the two-course lunch while enjoying a preview of the latest collections from Trelise Cooper, Bendon, Hailwood, Adrienne Winkelmann, Kathryn Wilson, Taylor, Yvonne Bennetti, Stolen Girlfriends Club, Deadly Ponies and Zambesi. MELBOURNE FASHION FESTIVAL
Melbourne Fashion Festival, Australia’s largest consumer fashion event, returns with a packed schedule of runway shows featuring more than 100 designers from March 17 to 23. Highlights include the debut of the Grand Showcase event featuring Camilla Franks AW2014 collection ‘And God Created Woman on March 19. Tickets can be purchased from the new Festival website VAMFF.com.au
