Night Market by Carriageworks for Vivid Sydney

Carriageworks and Vivid Sydney present an all-star line-up for the Night Market, a large-scale contemporary food and wine event for all ages, presented for one night only at Carriageworks on Friday 16 June from 5-10pm. The theme of ‘Cooking with Fire’ will be interpreted by some of the industry’s most respected chefs cooking live over flames in a winter celebration of regional New South Wales produce and diverse cultural food traditions.

Carriageworks is joined by guest curator, Lennox Hastie, chef and owner of Firedoor in Sydney, Australia’s only fully wood fuelled restaurant – in selecting more than 40 stallholders, including double the number of restaurants compared to previous Night Markets. Lending his experience, passion and knowledge for fire; Lennox Hastie selected restaurants and cooks who celebrate and work with fire, inviting visitors to experience the foods of different cultures and disciplines that cook with fire, including grilling, smoking, roasting, baking and barbequing.

Together with Firedoor, Three Blue Ducks, Icebergs Dining Room & Bar, The Dolphin, Billy Kwong,  4Fourteen, No.1 Bent Street by Mike, Lankan Filling Station, Hartsyard, Tequila Mockingbird, Spice I Am, Cairo Takeaway, Rising Sun Workshop, Nilgiri’s, Saga Enmore, Pepe Saya, Rising Sun Workshop, Nilgiri’s and more, chefs will be firing up the market to create special food offerings inspired by ‘Cooking with Fire’.

Hastie has also curated live fire cooking demonstrations to experience on the night with indigenous fire pit cooking by Indigenous Chef Zach Green who’s flying down from the Northern Territory, Mount Cook salmon planking by Sarah Glover, Paella cooking with the Fink Group, Mussels eclad with Kinkawooka Shellfish and open wood fired Mimosa Valley Lamb with Firedoor.

Fire themed desserts include offerings by The Pines Kiama, Dessertmakers, Saga Enmore, T Totaler, No. 1 Bent Street by Mike, Mr Goaty Gelato, Lankan Filling Station, Icebergs Dining Room & Bar and homemade marshmallows by the Country Women’s Association; while drinks include signature carbonated cocktails by This Must Be The Place, a full serviced bar including smoked cocktails by Rocker, mulled wine by Urban Winery and Cake Wines, a bubbling cauldron of gin by Archie Rose, fire flavour kombucha by Ballsy Wild Kombucha, beer by Young Henrys and Batch Brewing Co. and wines by the glass as well as Italian tinnies from The Dolphin Wine Room.
