GALLERY: Parisianc chic
When McGovern bought the Louis XVI-style sofa for her entrance hall, it was upholstered in red and gold; she has since covered it in a more neutral fabric.. Photography by Stephan Julliard
The entrance-hall rug comes from Ikea. The umbrella stand hails from Harrods in London and holds McGovern’s collection of her friend Jean-Paul Gaultier’s designer brollies. The bedroom wallpaper is discontinued from fabric company Angely Paris.. Photography by Stephan Julliard
McGovern bought the ballerina painting from a Paris antique dealer. The Louis XVI-style chair is part of a set she got at the Porte de Vanves flea market; the cashmere throw adorning it is from Selfridges in London. The bedspread is from Blanc D’Ivoire.. Photography by Stephan Julliard
The shelves are from Ikea, some of the antique carafes on the top shelf belonged to McGovern’s grandmother, and the two white-beaded rings on the bottom shelf are Christmas decorations that McGovern bought at New York’s Bergdorf Goodman.. Photography by Stephan Julliard
Her apartment in Paris’s hip ninth arondissement boasts a Louis XV desk, a 19th-century Venetian mirror, several Parisian flea-market finds (the crystal chandelier, for example) and auction purchases (the silver-plated butler tray), and numerous other antiques.. Photography by Stephan Julliard
The master bath features dual Lapeyre sinks, and the wall tiles are elongated versions of those used in the Paris Metro.. Photography by Stephan Julliard
The famous Louis Ghost dining chairs designed by Philippe Starck for Kartell. The antique French crystal chandelier and the oil painting in front of the fireplace are from the Porte de Vanves flea market in Paris and the Louis Philippe-style display cabinet at an auction in Chatou just outside Paris. The vase on the fireplace comes from Astier de Villatte (astierdevillatte.com). She acquired the marble sculpture at Christie’s in London.. Photography by Stephan Julliard
Gifts from friends decorate her living room, including the portrait of the maharajah, the fan, and the small candlesticks.. Photography by Stephan Julliard
