Why You Should Say Hello To Someone Today
Celebrate World Hello Day with a simple greeting.

World Hello Day’s message may be simple – that honest communication breeds peace – but there’s a deeper meaning to this celebrated day.

Created in 1973 amidst ongoing conflict between Egypt and Israel, World Hello Day sought to promote conflict resolution through communication, not violence. When the Yom Kippur War ended with peace discussions in 1973, it marked the first time that Israeli and Arab officials united for public discussion in more than two decades.

42 years later, World Hello Day is celebrated in 180 countries around the globe. Its straightforward concept reminds us of the importance of clear and open communication in everyday life, and speaks to a larger issue of world peace.

How you can celebrate World Hello Day:

It’s easy – make it your mission to say hello to ten people over the course of the day. This sends a message of kindness and openness to others and shows how communication can create positive interactions.

This is also a great opportunity to reconnect with someone you may have lost touch with. Reopen the communication and see where it takes you.
