The Beatles singer explained the practice while appearing on the Table Manners podcast, claiming that it has helped his vision.

McCartney learned from a yoga instructor in India how to give his eyes a workout and has been regularly doing so.

“I learned off some yogi in India. He explained that your eyes are muscles. Your ears aren’t, so you can’t exercise your ears,” he said.

“But your eyes, you can. So head still. And then you look up as far as you can, one, two, three, go back to the middle, then down, back to the middle. You do three lots of that then go to the left and the right. Now you’ve got a cross, up and down, and sideways, now you do the diagonals.”

Eye yoga, also called yogic eye exercises, are carried out by people hoping to improve their vision, decrease eye strain or treat symptoms of dry eye, according to Healthline.

There’s no evidence that eye yoga can improve the clarity of your vision, however there is some evidence the exercises can help with your ability to focus your eyes and can relieve eye strain symptoms.
