Trump to increase US military in Afghanistan; Taliban respond
President Trump has announced new plans for the war on terror in Afghanistan.

Donald Trump has announced a new strategy for the war on terror in Afghanistan.

Addressing American troops in Virginia last night, the President claimed he will deploy another 3900 soldiers to Afghanistan in a bid to defeat prominent terrorist organisations. “Victory will have a clear definition: attacking our enemies,” he declared. “Obliterating ISIS. Crushing Al Qaeda. Preventing the Taliban from taking over Afghanistan.”

Trump has previously criticised the Bush and Obama administrations for American involvement in Afghanistan, which has been ongoing since the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001.

Initially promising to end the war, he last night admitted he has decided to follow the advice of his generals.

A Taliban spokesman, Zabiullah Mujahid, has responded to the announcement, warning of the outcome if Trump persists. “If America doesn’t withdraw its troops from Afghanistan, soon it will become another graveyard for this superpower in the 21st century.”
