Travel advice to Australians: ‘Do not go overseas’
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has given an update regarding the government's advice amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

Morrison announced travel advice to Australians has been upgraded to “do not go overseas”.

This is due to the biggest number of COVID-19 infections coming from Australians returning from abroad.

The prime minister also placed a ban on non-essential indoor gatherings of more than 100 people, effective immediately.

The ban on outdoor events continues to be for those with more than 500 people.

Morrison said the health advice from experts including chief medical officer Brendan Murphy is that the schools should remain open.

He also outlined new restrictions on visiting aged care homes, with visits to be limited to short times and to two visitors at one time per day.

The prime minister strongly discouraged panic buying of supplies and told people not to abuse staff, saying such behaviour is “un-Australian”.
