The Riviera home by Metricon sets a new benchmark for contemporary living

By MiNDFOOD

The flagship abode by the award-winning Australian home designers introduces a sleek, new offering for resort-style living.

When leading home builders Metricon Homes set out to design their Riviera home, the vision was clear: create something with the ultimate wow factor.

Boasting five bedrooms and five bathrooms across two storeys, the Riviera is a sprawling home that elegantly captures luxury and relaxation with its open-plan design and seamless indoor-outdoor flow.

“I love this home,” Metricon Design Director Adrian Popple says. “It’s so welcoming and inviting. It’s the kind of home you feel like you could just move in and live in.”

The Riveria’s grand entrance opens up to a 5.8 metre atrium that connects the two upstairs wings before leading to the heart of the home – the expansive kitchen and alfresco dining area a true entertainer’s dream.

“Initially, I was a little concerned about the size of the dining room because it is quite large, but the transition of the entry that steps down into the dining area helps to define the space,” says Popple.

“We wanted to put all the wow factor into the ground floor, into the areas you entertain in. This is where people spend most of their time, so the space really accentuates and celebrates the social heart of the home.”

Modern materials are thoughtfully used throughout the Riviera home, with oversized concrete tiles and Calcutta stone splashbacks juxtaposed with walnut timber panelling and warm oak accents. In the kitchen, ink-black cabinetry and monochrome artworks are beautifully balanced by the lush indoor greenery.

The extravagant master suite is situated on the first floor, equipped with its own private balcony, ensuite and walk-in wardrobe. One of the most striking features of the home is the open timber staircase, a clever marriage of functionality and flow that elevates the Riveria’s design.

In order to achieve the heightened level of comfort that’s akin to a resort-stay, the Riviera has been designed with the latest advancements in home technology. Louvre windows promote cross ventilation, while special highlight glass allows for maximum light.

“With the Riviera, we knew we needed to create something special,” says Popple. “We are trying to forge a new market up here and really show our capabilities as a builder so we needed to take a step away from our core Designer product range and give ourselves that point of difference.

“What we’re good at is making everything work and not leaving anything to chance. We’ve had architects and builders come though and they see us now as a serious competitor and threat because we can design to that level and also back it up with our build quality and attention to detail.”

The Riviera is currently on display in Central NSW, at Morriset Park. Metricon are planning on building a Riviera show home in Victoria – so keep an ear out for news on when it will be opened.
