The importance of a Sunday ritual
Want to kick the week off on the right foot? Having a Sunday ritual can impact how you feel for the week ahead.

Priming

Self-help guru Tony Robbins has a 10-minute morning ritual that he practices every day, including Sundays. He calls the process ‘priming” and it starts with a breathing exercise, followed by thinking of three things he’s grateful for.  Next, he visualises coloured light filling his body and healing his body, thoughts and feelings. Finally, he focuses on three goals he wants to make happen.

Self Care

Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale believes self-care is “necessary so that you can be the best for everyone else around you.” She likes to spend time by herself either outdoors hiking or meditating, saying “I used to feel that putting myself first was selfish. It’s not.”

Clean Up

Debbie Mandel, the author of Addicted to Stress advises people to take a personal inventory of what is working for them and what isn’t every Sunday, then get rid of stuff before it piles up and becomes overwhelming. This applies to obligations and commitments as well as physical clutter around the house.

Wardrobe prep

Stylist and designer Stacy London says to save you time and frustration in the mornings, plan a week’s worth of outfits on Sunday. Go over your schedule for the week to see what you have coming up and check the weather before you start planning.

Sunday roast

Some Sunday meal preparation can save you time, money and energy in the week ahead, and who doesn’t want that? Even if it’s just the core, healthy items like brown rice, salad dressing, roast meat, quinoa, stock, par-cook vegetables and soup you will be one step ahead. Add in a meal or two – like lasagne and curry –and you will be set.
