Sydney woman branded a legend for standing up for a Muslim couple against a racist attack

A Sydney woman has been widely praised after a video of her standing up for a Muslim couple against a racial attack on a Sydney train travelling from Town Hall to the Sydney airport went viral on Facebook this week.

Stacey Eden filmed captured footage on her phone putting a stop to a racist rant by a woman toward Hafeez Ahmeda Bhatti and his wife, who was wearing a headscarfe.

“She wears it for herself OK, she wears it because she wants to be modest with her body not because of people like you who are going to sit there and disrespect her,” Eden says in the video.

Eden later wrote on Facebook that that woman vilifying the couple had then turned on her.

“People like this make me sick. People who are so ignorant and disrespectful to other people who were clearly sitting there minding their own business,” Eden wrote on Facebook.

Hafeez Ahmeda Bhatti thanked Eden for her courage, and respect of his religion, on his own Facebook page.
