Stella McCartney’s Winter 2020 collection hit the runway this week, making a nod to strong women with a free spirit.
Offering a modernist take on opulent fantasy, the collection pays homage to the work for Russian-born French designer and illustrator Erté, whom Stella met when she was a child. Collaborating with Erté’s archives, the collection showcases never-before-used fashion prints.
Playing with the tension created by the feminisation of masculine clothing, the collection features sculptural silhouettes, minimal embellishments and natural textures. True to Stella’s signature style, the palette includes tones of mineral, clay, sand, charcoal and navy, alongside punches of lilac and ginger.
