Sleeping Under The Stars

The growing trend in accommodation, bubble tents are a brilliant way to get closer to nature.

Sleeping Under The Stars

Can you imagine falling asleep in your very own snow dome? Snuggled warmly in bed, encased in your own private bubble – gazing up at the sky while soft white flakes drift down all around you? It sounds like the perfect Christmas travel experience, doesn’t it?

But while it might seem like just a dream, or a fairytale fantasy, the idea of dozing off to sleep while looking at the stars in a chic new bubble tent is actually catching on across the world. This new trend appears everywhere from New Brunswick in Canada to Marseille in France. There’s a lovely one in Iceland – where, surrounded by pine trees dripping in snow, the picturesque bubble tent really does look like a Christmas snow globe.

A little closer to home, Bubbletent Australia is located in NSW’s Capertee Valley, just three hours from Sydney. Overlooking the second largest canyon in the world, their bubbles are named Leo, Virgo and Cancer – inspired by the night-time views. Each offers a slightly different experience, whether it be the sunset vistas over the valley from Virgo, or Cancer’s secret lookouts and towering cliffs. No matter which you choose, the adventure is a dream come true for any outdoor enthusiast.

Meanwhile, for a summertime stay, head to a secluded sandbank in the Maldives’ Baa Atoll. The Spanish- designed Beach Bubble tent at Finolhu resort is UV-protected and waterproof, and comes with a four-poster bed, an oversized chair and even a turntable to get you into the mood as the sun goes down. It also has a separate adjoining bubble bathroom. Just turn out the lights and watch the stars glide past. Available for a romantic one-night- only ‘Dream Eclipse’ experience from sunset to sunrise, it costs US$600 per couple, which includes a private beach barbecue and breakfast by the water.
