Shooting outside police headquarters
A police force employee has been killed in a double shooting outside Parramatta's Police headquarters.

One NSW Police Force employee has been reported dead after a shooting earlier this evening.

Local news was told that one gunman shot dead a police IT worker outside the Parramatta office at approximately 4.34pm Friday evening.

Witnesses say another policeman then returned fire.

“It appears an officer has discharged his weapon, responding to a report that a person had been shot,” a police spokesman said.

“Two people have died at the scene.”

The attack happened after officers had apparently been monitoring intelligence that suggested a possible attack on the Parramatta headquarters.

Fairfax media reported that an officer, who worked at the State Crime Command headquarters, said his team were ordered to have their weapons on them at all times this week, due to suspicious activity.

The headquarters is home to the homicide, Middle Eastern organised crime, gang and drug squads and is said to have been under threat for over 12 months now.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident with more information said to be released by a police spokesperson soon.
