Rural Northland transgender couple to tell their story at NZ Fringe
A transgender couple from Northland are set to delve deep into their story of hormonal gender transition.

As a transgender couple leading a provincial life in rural Northland, Willow and Ren Lunicke have been somewhat “small-town famous”.

Their long-term relationship took an exciting new direction when they simultaneously began to undergo gender-affirming hormone therapy.

On their journey they encountered not just physical changes, but unexpected shifts in their internal worlds that impacted how they relate to their community, themselves and each other.

Their story is told in SHE + THEY, a show with a live Q&A that will debut at the New Zealand Fringe Festival in March.

It’s an autobiographical, dramatic and comedic depiction of the journey undertaken by Willow (SHE) and Ren (THEY) and the discoveries they make as they undergo hormonal gender transition together.

The audience is encouraged to arrive early to write down their questions to be answered by Willow and Ren during the show.

Ren is an award-winning performer and producer, and for this production they are joined by muse Willow in the pair’s first collaboration.

SHE + THEY is Ren’s fifth autobiographical show.
