Royal Update: Wedding Details Announced And Markle To Become British Citizen
Where and when will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle marry, and who will design the dress?

The details of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding have been released, with the ceremony set to take place in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in May 2018.

Several royal weddings have taken place in the chapel, and it is also the location of Prince Harry’s baptism in 1984.

The royal family also announced that Markle, who was raised as a Catholic but identifies as a Protestant, would be baptised in the Church of England before beginning the process of becoming a British citizen. Markle would be able to retain her American citizenship and have a dual citizenship should she wish to.

Prince Harry is yet to meet Markle’s father, Thomas, Meghan revealed yesterday. The men have spoken on the phone, however, and Thomas will attend the wedding in May.

Markle, 36, is the first American to marry into the British royal family since 1937. She is expected to choose Canadian-Turkish fashion designer Erderm Moralioglu to make her wedding dress. She has used the designer many times previously, including when she and Prince Harry attended a wedding in Jamaica earlier this year. Other rumoured possibilities include British designers Jenny Packham and Alexander McQueen, and Markle’s New York-based friend, Misha Nonoo.

The couple will make their first public outing as an engaged couple this Friday when they attend an AIDS charity fair in Nottingham, England.
