Fancy overseeing the overhaul of one of the world’s most famous historic buildings?

If you think you’re up to it, you ought to apply for the role of planner in the renovation of Buckingham Palace.

The Royal Family is currently advertising for the role, with the successful candidate to join the team at a “key stage” of the restoration.

Buckingham Palace is set to undergo a £406 million renovation to “preserve the palace for years to come” and to “ensure the palace is fit for the future”.

The ten-year programme of works will see the palace’s infrastructure overhauled for the first time since the 1950s, which includes electrical cabling, plumbing and heating.

According to the job advertisement, the early planning and preparation works are already completed, and the planner will support the strategic planner by acting as the key interface between the programme management office and the contractors and consultants.

As for what the Royal Household is looking for in a candidate, it’s seeking relevant qualifications and previous planning experience, “ideally with historic buildings”.

The starting salary is £38,000 dependent on experience, and the role comes with a “comprehensive benefits package” that includes access to a range of catering and recreational facilities.
