Rachel Weisz: “Brexit Feels Like A Death”
Actress Rachel Weisz has opened up about the "pretty catastrophic" election of President Trump and her thoughts on last year's Brexit vote.

In an interview with The Guardian, Rachel said it was difficult to understand just how Trump won the 2016 presidential election, explaining that the entire situation was “surrealist”. “Trump is pretty catastrophic,” she said. “There are terrible things he can do to the Earth and women’s rights, but I feel it will be reversible, somehow.”

On the other hand, the actress, who had dual citizenship in the US and United Kingdom, said that the “Brexit” vote last year “feels like a death.”

“It’s gone,” she added. “It made me think about my parents and the reason the European Union was created in the first place, to make sure we never had a war like that ever again, to come together and get rid of our nationalism and be one stable thing. It’s very hard.”

Rachel also described herself as “cautiously optimistic” about the future, hopeful that this intense, unsure period will come to an end. “There’s only so long it can last,” she added. “I understand the damage to the earth is irreparable, but I’m looking at this era as a finite thing. History goes through changes, and people come out the other side. I’m trying to have some perspective.”
