Queen to withdraw from public duties for months
The Queen will remain at Windsor Castle for the foreseeable future and her public engagements are on hold while coronavirus continues to ravage Britain.

It’s expected to be Her Majesty’s longest absence from royal duties in her 68-year reign.

The Queen continues to hold her weekly audience with the prime minister via telephone and also receives her daily red boxes of government papers.

Buckingham Palace will be also be closed to the public throughout the UK summer. It’s believed to be the first time the palace has closed in 27 years.

The Queen has been isolating at Windsor Castle with Prince Philip since 19 March. According to The Sunday Times, they will remain there “indefinitely”.

While she has been unable to appear in public, the Queen has continued to deliver messages of support to the British people via social media.

Most recently, she marked VE Day with an address that aired exactly 75 years after her father King George VI delivered a speech at the end of World War II.
