Prince William discusses how fatherhood motivated him to protect wildlife
Prince William has revealed how becoming a father changed his outlook on the environment and saving endangered species in a new documentary.

The royal was followed by cameras for two years for the ITV documentary, titled Prince William: A Planet For Us All.

The Duke of Cambridge is seen embarking on a mission to save the natural world and encourage environmental reform, meeting inspiring local heroes along the way.

In the film, while visiting rhinos at Tanzania’s Mkomazi National Park, William talks about how having children motivated him to take action to prevent species becoming extinct.

“Now I’ve got George, Charlotte, and now Louis. Your outlook does change and that’s why I had to do something because I really felt like by the time my children were 20, at the rate poaching was at, there may not have been another rhino in the world,” the Prince said.

The Duke was also shown visiting ‘Bugingham Palace’ with a group of children in the documentary, where students quizzed him about who was the cheekier of his children.

“Is Princess Charlotte cheekier than Prince George?” asked one of the students.

“No they’re about as cheeky as each other. They’re very cheeky.”

William also expressed his concerns about rising sea levels and other impacts of climate change in the television documentary.

ITV said part of William’s message in the film was that climate change posed threats to everyone, including in Britain.

“You’ll lose the wildlife habitats here, you’d lose the farming, you’d lose the communities,” William said.

“It’s in everyone’s interest that we protect these sorts of areas. We have to get on top of the climate change issue.”
