Prince Philip released from hospital after a month
Prince Philip has returned to Windsor Castle after a month-long stay in hospital.

The Duke of Edinburgh, 99, was treated for an infection and underwent a heart procedure during his hospitalisation.

Buckingham Palace has released a statement thanking the staff at the two hospitals he spent time in.

“His Royal Highness wishes to thank all the medical staff who looked after him at both King Edward VII’s Hospital and St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and everyone who has sent their good wishes,” the statement read.

It’s understood the Duke’s illness was not related COVID-19, with Philip and the Queen receiving the vaccine for the disease in January.

Prince Charles has commented on Prince Philip’s release during a visit to a pop-up vaccination centre in London.

He told reporters the news of his father’s discharge was “very good news” and said he was “thrilled”.

He confirmed that he had spoken to the Duke his since his release.
