Prince Harry has visited Fraser Island on official duties, while his pregnant wife Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex took some time off. The couple reunited, and were seen greeting locals at Kingfisher Bay.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have flown together to Hervey Bay in Queensland and caught separate boats over to Fraser Island.

The Duchess, who is expecting her first child in spring, was encouraged by Prince Harry to take it easy after an exhausting start to the visit Down Under.

While she took a step back from her scheduled commitments and relaxed on the island, Prince Harry had a full diary.

Prince Harry’s first engagement was a traditional Welcome to Country Smoking Ceremony from the Butchulla people and meeting Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk before exploring the rest of the island, also known as K’gari.

He also unveiled a plaque to dedicate the popular holiday spot’s 206,970 acres of pristine rainforests to the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy project.

As the Duke was about to address the traditional land owners, a call from the crowd caused Harry to blush.

“He’s even better looking in person,” 72-year-old Butchulla elder Mally Clarke said. “I’ll second that!” another voice yelled, according to news.com.au.

Prince Harry said he would “take that as a compliment”. Clarke later explained it was the first thing that came to her mind.

“When he came out I just thought, ‘Oooh, he’s even better in the flesh. He better tell his wife about me,” news.com.au quoted Clarke as saying.

The Duchess of Sussex, however delighted fans as she joined her husband for a walkabout on Fraser Island after skipping the morning’s engagements to rest.

She was spotted cradling her baby bump, wearing a flowing summery dress, while chatting with locals.
