After teasing fans yesterday, the "Gingers United" opened up to the world about mental health - and Prince Harry ensured Meghan was involved, too.

Prince Harry and Ed Sheeran have shared a jokey but serious message about mental wellbeing to show their support for World Mental Health Day.

The Duke of Sussex posted a video of him chatting with mega popstar and friend Sheeran over a kitchen table after teasing fans with a five-second clip the previous day.

The short skit starts with the pair discussing what appears to be a serious matter, but they soon discover they’ve got their wires crossed.

“For me, the subject, the conversation is just not talked about enough. And people all over the world are really suffering,” Prince Harry says to Sheeran.

“That’s exactly what I’m trying to do. People just don’t understand what it’s like for people like us,” the singer later adds, referring to the pair being ginger.

“What?” Harry asks.

“You know, with the jokes, the snide comments, you know. I just feel it’s time we stood up and said we’re not going to take this anymore. We are gingers and we’re gonna fight,” Sheeran continues.

“Um, okay. Slightly awkward,” Harry replies. “There may be a miscommunication, but this is about World Mental Health Day.”

“Guys, this World Mental Health Day, reach out, make sure that your friends, strangers, look out for anybody who might be suffering in silence,” the Duke of Sussex says. “We’re all in this together.”

The caption that accompanied the Instagram post read:

Both Prince Harry and Ed Sheeran want to ensure that not just today but every day, you look after yourself, your friends and those around you.

“There’s no need to suffer in silence – share how you’re feeling, ask how someone is doing and listen for the answer. Be willing to ask for help when you need it and know that we are all in this together. #WMHD”

Harry gets Meghan involved

Prince Harry had another mission to complete on World Mental Health Day – to relay a voice message from his wife Meghan Markle to her longtime pen pal.

The pen pal is 14-year-old Aleyna Genc, a Nottingham Academy student who had been exchanging letters with The Duchess of Sussex for two years, according to Nottingham Post.

The girl battled a brain tumor as a child and wrote to the duchess after being inspired by her speech to the UN about female empowerment in 2018.

Harry and mental health

The Duke of Sussex is a long-time advocate of projects and initiatives aimed at tackling mental health.

As well as speaking up for sufferers and taking time out of his schedule to hear their stories, he has famously opened his heart about his own mental health struggles over the past two decades.

Earlier this week, Harry starred in a British National Health Service (NHS) campaign advert alongside brother Prince William, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.

The Cambridges and Sussexes narrate the three-minute video themselves, which encourages people on how to tackle various mental wellbeing issues such as poor sleep, stress and low mood.

The video supports the Every Mind Matters initiative and was released earlier in the build-up to World Mental Health Day.
