In his first public appearance since the birth of his new son, Prince William was quizzed about the royal baby's name.

Royal fans are itching to know what Kate Middleton and Prince William’s new baby is going to be called, with popular guesses including Arthur, Albert and Frederick. In his first public appearance since the baby’s birth, however, Prince William was asked about potential contenders.

Joining Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at Westminster Abbey for an Anzac Day service, the father of three was quizzed about the possibility of Alexander being his new son’s name. “Alexander? “Funny you should say that, it’s a good name” he told New Zealand high commissioners in a Hello magazine video. The Prince also added that “Gerry’s a strong name.”

Asked how the baby and Kate are doing, Prince William responded: “They’re very well, thank you very much. They’re in good form, luckily.” He added that: “Sleep is going reasonably well so far, so he’s behaving himself so far, which is good news.”

Alexander is the male version of the Queen’s middle name, Alexandra, making it a strong contender. It is also Prince George’s middle name. On Monday Prince William said the world would find out the baby name “very soon”.
