Pippa Middleton, the younger sister of Kate Middleton,  the Duchess of Cambridge, has given birth to a baby boy.

The baby was born at 13:58 (British Standard Time) weighing 3.8kg, at the private Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, west Londona, a spokeswoman for the new mum and her husband James Matthews said.

“Everyone is delighted and mother and baby are doing well,” she added.

A Kensington Palace spokesman said Prince William and Kate Middleton were “thrilled” for the couple.

Pippa’s last major public outing was at the wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank on Friday.

The birth comes just six months after Pippa’s older sister Kate Middleton gave birth to her third child, Prince Louis, in that same hospital.

The baby arrived just a day after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they are expecting their first child next year.

She has previously revealed in a magazine interview that she passed through the first trimester without experiencing the severe morning sickness her older sister had with her three pregnancies.

“I was lucky to pass the 12-week scan without suffering from morning sickness,” she said.

“That meant I was able to carry on as normal and continue my sports.”

In a recent column she wrote: “As the final month nears and the bump grows prouder each day, movement is certainly getting more awkward.”

“The transformations to my body that are taking place as it prepares for childbirth have meant that the sound sleeps and the baby bubble effect have gone. Reality is finally kicking in,” she added.

The younger of the Middleton sisters, Pippa wed Matthews at the picturesque St. Mark’s Church – just a few miles from the Middleton estate – in Englefield, England, last May with celebrities and royals in attendance.
