Known as the most performed opera in the world, Verdi’s La Traviata continues to attract huge audiences, and this season Opera Australia will celebrate its 200th performance at the Sydney Opera House when it opens this Friday 3 February.

To celebrate this milestone, Opera Australia is offering 200 tickets for an unbelievable price of 200 cents each for the February 23 performance of La Traviata.

A perennial crowd favourite, Opera Australia has produced an array of stunning La Traviata productions over the years that keeps the audiences coming back time after time.

The first production staged at the Opera House in 1978 set a very high bar for those that followed.

In the starring role of Violetta was a young soprano by the name of Kiri Te Kanawa, who was in the midst of taking the world by storm but before she became a Dame.

Conducting was the legendary Maestro Richard Bonynge and the production was produced by long-time OA collaborator John Copley.

Performing in his first production of La Traviata as Giuseppe was young Australian tenor Graeme Macfarlane who is currently performing in La Bohemé on the same stage as the one he took 39 years ago.

Now you can see the latest production, for as little as $2!
