Olivia Newton-John Reveals Breast Cancer Diagnosis
The Australian artist has revealed her cancer has returned

Sad news today for Australian singer, actor and health advocate Olivia Newton-John, who has revealed that she has had a second breast cancer diagnosis.

Newton-John had been set to tour the US and Canada next month, however was forced to cancel dates due to her diagnosis. The star initially was experiencing some back pain, however since learnt that her back pain was actually breast cancer that has metastasised to the sacrum.

In a statement released on Newton-John’s Facebook page, the singer has said that she will complete a short course of photon radiation therapy as well as natural wellness therapies. “I decided on my direction of therapies after consultation with my doctors and natural therapists and the medical team at my Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia,” she said.

Newton-John opened the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in 2014. The star first battled breast cancer 25 years ago, and has since become a strong advocate for raising awareness and funds to fight the disease.

Professor Jonathan Cebon, Medical Director of the Olivia Newton-John Centre, said that he was saddened to hear of Newton-John’s diagnosis. “Late relapses from breast cancer can occur, especially for women with ‘hormone receptor-positive’ breast cancer,” he explained. “These relapses can occur sometimes even decades after initial treatment for early breast cancer.”
