Northern Territory Travelling Film Festival
Natural auditoriums will pop-up across the state from 21 May to 9 June, starting in the Territory’s Red Centre in Alice Springs before making their way north up the Stuart Highway to the stunning Top End.

For three weeks in 2018, some of Australia’s most sunburnt lands and tropical paradises will be transformed into spectacular outdoor movie theatres, showcasing the very best in local short films and ancestral stories as part of the inaugural Northern Territory Travelling Film Festival (NTTFF).

The curated 126-minute program will include 10 quintessentially Territorian short films that reflect the burgeoning crop of regional and Indigenous filmmakers, featuring a breadth of genres including regionally significant dreamtime stories, ‘croc-tastic’ comedies, ‘troppo-noir’ and cultural documentaries.

The NTTFF will host groundbreaking screenings in remote communities including Tangentyere, Ntaria, Mungkarta, Elliot, Borroloola, Beswick, Gunbalanya, Barunga and Binjari. Local filmmakers and young people will have the chance to participate in workshops and see their own creations on the big screen before the program of shorts.

The inaugural program includes acclaimed award-winning films, including four SPARK short film initiative entries – SumatraLuredSnowdrops keep falling on my head (The mystery down under) and DEADLINE – four original works from the Indigenous Short Film Program  – Carry The FlagFinding MaawirranggaThe Greedy Emu and BAKALA, which touch on prevalent cultural issues and finding solace in ancestral locations and Capricornia Film Award gems Nulla Nulla and After Tracy.
