Netflix releases trailer for upcoming Jeffrey Epstein docuseries
Netflix has announced a release date for its Jeffrey Epstein docuseries, and released the official trailer.

Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich is a four-part series that will premiere on 27 May, and it’s set to expose the secrets behind the sex-trafficking ring that led to the disgraced financier’s arrest and death in prison.

The trailer includes snippets of interviews with multiple Epstein accusers outlining the details of the “ever-revolving door of girls”, and calling for justice.

The series will also explore the controversial plea deal Epstein reached in 2008 after he had been arrested for unlawful sex acts with a minor, which saw him plead guilty to two lesser charges of soliciting prostitution, including with a minor.

While he was required to register as a sex offender, Epstein only served 13 months in jail and was allowed to leave prison for work for up to 12 hours a day, six days a week.

Epstein was arrested again in 2019 on charges of sex trafficking of minors in Florida and New York. Prosecutors alleged he “sexually exploited and abused dozens of minor girls at his homes in Manhattan, New York, and Palm Beach, Florida, among other locations”.

“‘In particular, from at least in or about 2002, up to and including at least in or about 2005, Jeffrey Epstein, the defendant, enticed and recruited, and caused to be enticed and recruited, minor girls to visit his mansion in Manhattan, New York (the “New York Residence”) and his estate in Palm Beach, Florida (the “Palm Beach Residence”) to engage in sex acts with him, after which he would give the victims hundreds of dollars in cash,” read the indictment.

“Moreover, and in order to maintain and increase his supply of victims, Epstein also paid certain of his victims to recruit additional girls to be similarly abused by Epstein.”

He died in jail before he could face trial. The trailer also suggests the docuseries will address the questions over his death, with a number of conspiracy theories having emerged since he died by apparent suicide in his jail cell.

Epstein was often seen socialising with the rich and powerful, including Donald Trump, Bill Clinton and Prince Andrew.
