Michelle Obama Announces ‘Deeply Personal’ Memoir

Michelle Obama
In her debut novel, the former First Lady writes about finding her voice as a girl from Chicago's South Side.

Following in the footsteps of husband Barack, Michelle Obama has written a memoir detailing the experiences that have shaped her. Named Becoming, the novel chronicles Michelle’s childhood growing up on Chicago’s South Side, her executive career, her marriage to Barack and journey into motherhood, and her time spent as the first African American in the role of First Lady.

Readers can expect a moving tale of success and disappointment, told with the intelligent voice and unique humour of a woman who transformed the White House into a welcoming space for family and friendship.

“Writing BECOMING has been a deeply personal experience”, Michelle writes on Twitter. “I talk about my roots and how a girl from the South Side found her voice. I hope my journey inspires readers to find the courage to become whoever they aspire to be. I can’t wait to share my story.”

Becoming will be released on November 13th 2018.
