Hollywood superstar Mel Gibson has been dropped from an upcoming film after Winona Ryder alleged he directed anti-Semitic remarks at her.
Gibson has been axed from Netflix’s sequel to Chicken Run after Ryder shared details of an uncomfortable encounter with Gibson back in 1995.
In an interview that was published in Britain’s Sunday Times, Ryder revealed the details of the party that she and Gibson both attended in 1995.
“We were at a crowded party with one of my good friends, and Mel Gibson was smoking a cigar, and we were all talking and he said to my friend, who’s gay, ‘Oh wait, am I gonna get AIDS?’ And then something came up about Jews, and he said, ‘You’re not an oven dodger, are you?'”
The actress, who lost family members in the Holocaust, said that Gibson attempted to apologise to her at a later date.
“It was just this weird, weird moment.”
It’s not the first time Gibson has been in the spotlight for his poor behaviour.
Back in 2006, Gibson was arrested for drink driving and was caught on tape making anti-Semitic.
Gibson, who grew up in Sydney, has suffered irreparable damage to his career over the years, with some of the industry’s top players refusing to work with him.
